The comfortable, discreet way to straighten your teeth

If you’re wishing for straighter teeth and a more beautiful smile, Invisalign may be the solution you’ve been looking for. With Invisalign clear orthodontic aligners, you can enhance your smile in a modest, convenient manner and don’t need to worry about metal braces or uncomfortable wires in your mouth.

Dr. Amin Samadian and his San Francisco team can design a custom Invisalign treatment plan that can enhance your smile and, as a byproduct, improve your overall oral health. More than 4 million patients around the world have used Invisalign for their orthodontic treatment, and that number grows every day.

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is an orthodontic treatment that can align your teeth using a series of clear, plastic aligners. As long as you wear your prescribed aligners at least 22 hours every day, Invisalign can gradually move your teeth to a straighter position.

Unlike conventional metal braces, clear aligners can be taken out for eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing. While it’s not obvious to the average person that you’re undergoing Invisalign treatment, only someone with a keen eye may notice them. The good news is that Invisalign aligners are more discreet and convenient than regular metal braces.

Since Invisalign is an electronic-based treatment, you’ll know exactly what to expect from your treatment and how long you’ll need to wear orthodontic aligners before you begin using them. Conventional metal braces are less predictable, so they can cause unexpected surprises.

Reasons for Invisalign

Invisalign is just one treatment option of Dr. Samadian’s complete, metal-free dentistry technique at his San Francisco office. He and his team will work with you to establish if Invisalign is a good fit for you. Dr. Amin Samadian and his team may recommend Invisalign if you struggle with crooked teeth, an overbite, underbite, or another orthodontic issue, but are not interested in having traditional metal braces.

Invisalign can also be used to protect your gums and reduce the risk of gum disease. Since the creation of Invisalign in 1997, it has been the preferred treatment for teens and adults who require orthodontic teeth alignment.

What does Invisalign involve?

Once Dr. Amin Samadian and his team decide that you’re a good candidate for Invisalign, they will take images of your teeth and face as well as x-rays and a digital scan of your mouth. These will all be utilized to design a set of custom aligners made specifically for your teeth.

After your custom aligners have been designed, you’ll wear each set for two weeks at a time, at least 22 hours a day. Each set of aligners is designed to help make the teeth a bit straighter than the previous ones. You can expect your teeth to move about 2/10mm per aligner.

As with traditional metal braces, you’ll need to ensure you maintain exceptional oral hygiene while using Invisalign. It’s a good idea to wash and brush them every day just like your own teeth to prevent the buildup of any bacteria. Over time, Invisalign aligners will slowly shift your teeth into their optimal positions. You won’t have to spend unnecessary money on specialized dental equipment like flossers or a Waterpik that may be mandatory to keep teeth clean while wearing metal braces.

Once you’ve achieved your ideal results, Dr. Amin Samadian’s team will ask that you wear a retainer while you sleep to prevent your teeth from shifting back to their original positions. While some patients prefer clear plastic retainers that are reminiscent of their Invisalign aligners, others may choose to receive a permanent retainer fixed on the inside of their lower front teeth. Dr. Amin Samadian and his San Francisco team can help you choose the best retainer for your lifestyle and preferences.

Using his in-house 3D printing technology and advanced digital scanners, Dr. Samadian will select the best treatment and kind of aligners for you. The most important thing to consider is that 3D aligners are simply tools to move the teeth and the knowledge comes from the doctor, not from the computer.

Is Invisalign painful?

When you begin using each new set of orthodontic aligners, you may feel a little soreness and discomfort as your mouth gets used to the new aligner. Fortunately, this discomfort is short-lived and will fade in a few days once your teeth and mouth adjust.

What results will I see?

After you complete your Invisalign treatment, you can enjoy straighter teeth and a healthier, more charming smile. It’s important to know that Invisalign treatment times will vary for every patient. Your tooth composition, how old you are, and how well you observe the instructions Dr. Amin Samadian’s team gives you will all affect your treatment time. In most instances, Invisalign treatment is completed in 1-2 years.
